It is WayMaker Wednesday. The best years do not always look like the best years while you are in them.
The Question
What will you wish you had stopped to feel about this season of your life?
The Thought
You have had seasons you would give anything to go back to. The funny thing is, you did not know they were the good ones while you were there.
You were too tired, too behind, too worried about what came next. The meal was good but you ate it fast. The conversation was real but you were half somewhere else. The years passed and then one day you looked back and thought: that was it. That was the thing.
The same is true right now.
These years, the ones you are in, are the ones you will miss. Not because life gets worse later. Because this is where you are alive, building, trying. The chaos is the point. The not-yet-figured-out is the point. You are in the middle of something that has not become a memory yet, and that is a gift.
You do not need to slow time down. You just need to show up to it.
Look at your life as it actually is today. The hard parts are real. So is the good. Do not wait until it is over to appreciate that you were in it.
Put It Into Action
The Pause Exercise
- Pick one moment today, a meal, a drive, a conversation, and give it your full attention.
- Name three things about this season of your life that future-you would want back.
- Write one sentence about who you are right now, in this chapter, that you do not want to forget.
- Do this once a week until it becomes the way you move through your life.
Who in your life needs to hear this right now? Send it to them.
Forge Forward,
Jon Mayo
