Stop Asking Why Me

It is WayMaker Wednesday. Stop Waiting For Pain To Explain Itself.

The Question

What are you refusing to do while you wait for life to explain why this happened to you?

The Thought

“Why me?” may be the first thing you ask when life hurts. It is a fair cry. It is just a terrible place to stay.

The question asks your pain to explain itself. Most pain cannot. People leave. Plans fail. Your body breaks. You do your best and still lose. Sometimes there is no answer that will make what happened feel right.

If you keep asking why, you can spend years waiting for a reason before you let yourself live again. That is the real cost. Your pain takes one part of your life, then the question takes the rest.

You do not need to call the hurt good. You do not need to act like it did not matter. You only need to stop making an answer the price of moving on.

Ask what is still yours to do. Make the call. Take care of your body. Tell the truth. Get help. Forgive when you are ready. Begin again before the past gives you permission.

What happened to you matters. What you do next matters too.

You may not get an answer. You still get a choice.

Put It Into Action

Try the Next Choice exercise:

  • Write down the hurt you keep asking to explain itself.
  • Name what waiting for an answer is costing you today.
  • Choose one thing that is still yours to do.
  • Make that choice today.

Send this to someone who needs to know they can move without an answer.

Forge Forward,
