It is WayMaker Wednesday. Your Excuses Are Eating First
The Question
What excuse are you protecting that keeps taking food from the life you say you want?
The Thought
You do not lose discipline all at once. You give it away one small choice at a time.
You say you are tired, so the excuse gets a seat. You say it has been a long day, so the excuse gets fed. You say tomorrow will be better, so the excuse gets tucked in safe. After a while, your reasons have a whole home in you.
Then you wonder why your discipline feels weak.
But discipline cannot grow on what is left over. It needs first place. It needs the first honest choice, the first hard no, the first five minutes when you do not feel like it. It needs you to stop caring for the excuse more than you care for the promise you made.
This is the real cost. Every excuse you protect asks your future to pay for it.
So do not hate yourself for being weak. Just stop feeding what makes you weak. The next time the reason shows up, see it plainly. Name it. Then choose the thing you said mattered.
Your life grows where your food goes.
Put It Into Action
The First Plate Exercise
- Write down the one excuse you use most.
- Name the one thing it keeps stealing from you.
- Do that thing for ten minutes today before you explain why you cannot.
- Feed the promise first.
Send this to someone who is tired of feeding the same excuse.
Forge Forward,
Jon Mayo
