It is WayMaker Wednesday. Time to check what your comfort is costing you.
The Question
What choice did you make today that made you a little softer?
The Thought
You do not lose your edge in one day. You lose it in small choices that feel harmless in the moment.
Skipping the workout does not feel like losing your edge. It feels like rest. Sleeping in does not feel like getting soft. It feels like recovery. That is the trick. None of these choices feel like a loss when you make them.
But rest and softness are not the same thing. Rest sharpens you for what comes next. Softness just makes the next hard thing harder. Keep choosing soft long enough, and one day the hard thing shows up, and you are not the person who can handle it anymore.
That is the real cost. Not what soft living costs you today. What it costs you the day you need to be sharp and you are not.
You already know which choice you are making right now. The question is whether you are willing to look at it.
Soft living does not announce itself. It shows up one day, wearing your name.
Put It Into Action
Try this today: The One Hard Thing.
- Pick one thing today that you would normally skip because it is easier not to do it.
- Do that one thing, even if no one will ever know.
- Notice how it feels to choose hard on purpose.
- That feeling is your edge. Go find it again tomorrow.
Forward this to someone who needs to hear it.
Forge Forward,
Jon Mayo
