It is WayMaker Wednesday. It is WayMaker Wednesday. Time to check whose advice you are actually following.
The Question
Whose advice are you following that you would never trade lives with?
The Thought
You take advice from a lot of people. Your dad. Your boss. That guy on your feed. The friend who always has an opinion. But here is the question you skip: do you actually want their life?
Not their advice. Their life. The way they spend their days. Their marriage. Their bank account. Their health. Their peace.
If the answer is no, then why are you still taking notes?
You would not ask a broke man how to invest. You would not ask a tired marriage how to build a good one. But you do this all the time with advice you cannot trace back to a life you would actually want.
Here is the test. Before you take someone's advice, look at their life first. If you would not trade for it, stop trading your choices for their opinion.
This is not about ignoring everyone. Some people have earned the right to speak into your life because they built something real. Listen to them. Just stop handing your ear to anyone who talks the loudest.
Check the life before you take the advice.
Put It Into Action
Run the Life Check
- Name one person whose advice you keep taking.
- Look at their actual life. Not their words, their life.
- If you would not trade for it, stop taking notes from it.
- Check the life first. The advice follows.
If this hit home, send it to someone who needs to hear it.
Forge Forward,
Jon Mayo
