It is WayMaker Wednesday. Time to expose the cozy cage you built for yourself and choose decisive action in the face of what others think.
The Question
What is the one thing you know you need to do but are avoiding out of fear of being misunderstood?
The Thought
The Anti-Value here is Comfort Coward. This is the choice to hide in the cozy cage of "what will people think?".
It looks like humility or self-preservation, but it is actually conformity.
The Comfort Coward prioritizes certainty over conviction.
They stay in dead-end jobs that numb them, and they parrot beliefs that are not their own.
The price of this comfort is your soul.
WayMakers Forge Courage.
We choose to take decisive action in the face of adversity. We are not here to seek permission. We are not here to blend in.
The true threat is not failure.
It is wasting your life chasing safety at the expense of your soul. Choose the discomfort of becoming divergent.
Put It Into Action
Conduct the Divergence Audit this week, inspired by the courage diagnostic.
- Ask: What is the one thing you know you need to do but are avoiding out of fear? (Name the fear: loss of status, judgment, or failure.)
- Who are you subtly disempowering by over functioning or refusing to delegate (the hidden fear of trusting others)?
- Take one small, aligned step that is completely off-map—something that feels so clearly yours it almost scares you.
- Courage is not the absence of fear.
- It is action in its presence.
Who came to mind while reading this? Send this to them. They might be one brave choice away from breaking free.
Forge Forward,
Jon Mayo
