Cowardly Lies Are Not Peaceful. They Are Expensive.

It is WayMaker Wednesday. Time to confront the hidden cost of silence and choose forthrightness over comfort.

The Question

What truth are you currently softening or diluting to avoid ten minutes of discomfort that will cost you months of friction?

The Thought

The Anti-Value here is Cowardly Lies. This is the act of dodging hard talks, polishing turds, and choosing to dilute the truth just to keep the peace.

We convince ourselves this is kindness, wisdom, or patience. It is not. It is fear.

Avoidance is not a strategy.

It is a tax.

Every unsent message.

Every delayed conversation.

Every ignored truth.

They do not just linger.

They metastasize.

You cannot solve a problem you refuse to name. You cannot lead if you prioritize comfort over clarity.

WayMakers Uphold Truth.

We prioritize forthrightness and foster integrity in every interaction.

We lean in before the breakdown.

Real peace is found after the truth is spoken, not before.

Put It Into Action

Conduct the Candor-for-Clarity Audit this week, inspired by the truth diagnostic.

  • Ask: In your last difficult conversation, did you say exactly what you meant, or did you dilute the truth to avoid discomfort?
  • Name one issue you are allowing to fester in a relationship (work or personal) in the name of "keeping the peace."
  • Commit to addressing that issue with Radical Candor (courage and constructive care). Frame the issue around its cost to the mission, not the person.
  • Silence is expensive.
  • Truth is the better investment.

Who came to mind while reading this? Send this to them. They might need the fire of truth to save their future.
