The illusion I fell for headfirst, and invested in deeply enough to realize: it is mostly noise.
And I am grateful that I did.
AI.
Simply put — like all powerful tools, it can be a tremendous force multiplier. But it is not magic. And it can be a terrible distraction.
If you think it might magically fix your problems, I hope this hurts your feelings, wakes you up, and causes you to look in the mirror.
The promise those who created AI — and most who are selling AI — suggest it's capable of fulfilling is not yet fulfillable. Don't fall for the siren's call.
AI Is a Mirror
AI is a terrible prefix. A terrible strategy. A terrible plan. And most definitely not a solution.
It is a mirror. A tool. A means to an end. A reflection.
There Are No AI Strategists
There are no AI strategists. No AI leaders. No AI ethics.
There are only humans.
Humans who master the crafts and those who don't. Humans who leverage relationships and those who don't. Humans who leverage tools and those who don't.
Offensively Simple
Enough of the noise.
You are losing money because of the decisions you are making, the systems you are allowing to operate, the chaos you encourage, the emotions you are coddling, the complexity you feed.
It is offensively simple.
Be a better human. Lead, build, steward, love, create.
When Applied Well
AI does not replace the craft. It accelerates the practitioner.
It does not invent the relationship. It remembers it.
It does not make the decision. It surfaces what you already know but couldn't see.
It does not create the vision. It builds scaffolding under one.
A force multiplier requires a force. Become the force.
When you do, AI compounds your mastery, your relationships, your judgment. Work that took weeks takes hours. Noise becomes signal. Things ship that would not otherwise exist.
That is the work.
The rest is noise.
